I believe (in the words of the articles of faith) the 13th article of faith is a road map on how to be Christlike. It describes well the characteristics that are so abundant in our Savior. Being Christlike is a lifelong endeavor. We should only consume things that are virtuous. This should guide our decisions. When virtue is abundant in our decisions, it becomes our character. The latter part of the article talks about things that are "lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from President Gordon B. Hinckley when he encouraged non-members to "bring with you all the good that you have, and then let us see if we an add to it." We don't aim to denigrate the good in other churches or religions. We appreciate people being devoted to God or Christ. We just want to see if we can add to it.
Education is an example of something that is good or of good report. We seek after these things.
Another good part of the gospel is to have hope and belief as discussed in the article. The gospel should be an optimistic thing. It means "good news" after all. If we as members don't exude positivity and happiness, we are probably doing something wrong. We should be the happiest people on earth if we understand Christ and His mission the best.
