Fairview Texas Temple

I came across this image on social media on a satire account saying that this is the agreed upon rendering for the Fairview Texas temple. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has submitted multiple plans to the city to be approved for a temple to be built in the near future. Each time they submit plans, the city council finds reasons, most of them silly, to reject the plans. If they conducted even a little bit of research, they would find out that these buildings are widely believed to be a positive addition to the locations in which they are built. Upon reading this, you likely immediately thought of the economic impact these buildings have upon their surrounding neighbors. It has been proven that the value of the homes surrounding these temple sites increases, sometimes significantly. I am a real estate appraiser and can confirm, this is definitely the case. I also work for a builder and in a specific community in which we build, the sales prices start around $900,000. Just one phase away, the prices are between $600,000 and $700,000.

Beyond the financial impact, neighbors of these temples have been polled and usually feel the buildings are beautiful, well-maintained, and are a positive contribution to the location. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints spends significant amounts of money in the landscaping and maintenance of these properties. The only understandable complaint is the light that emanates from the properties at night, but the church is trying to remedy this complaint in most places that have this complaint. Temples are overwhelmingly viewed in a positive light in these locations. (No pun intended.)
